Put The People First: Suspend All Gas Taxes Now

NAUGATUCK, CONN – September 21: Wayne Winsley, committed to restore the Public Trust as the people’s next   3rd U.S. Congressional District representative, today released the following statement:

The price of gasoline across the country is way too high; and, the ‘Price of Gas in Connecticut’ is outrageously high.  That’s because Incumbents in both the Congress and CT State Government are out of touch with the people.

Again, I call on every Incumbent/Challenger for the US Congress as well as the CT State Legislature to join me in Suspending the Federal Gas Tax and all CT State Gas Taxes effective October 1, 2012.

We must not wait for January.  In fact, we must take immediate action right now ‘for the people’.
All CT residents will ‘Save $.67 CENTS PER GALLON’ at the pump beginning October 1st... if, both Incumbents and Challengers are willing to ‘Put The People First’.

(The $.67 CENTS PER GALLON of Gas Taxes includes the Federal Government Gas Tax of ‘18.4 cents per gallon as well as the Connecticut State Government Gas Taxes which are ‘48.9 cents per gallon.)

It’s time:  Each current CT Federal Incumbent (Blumenthal, Lieberman, Courtney, DeLauro, Himes, Larson and Murphy) publicly call for - and have Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid publicly call for- President Obama to call Congress back immediately to pass federal legislation suspending the Federal Gas Tax placed on the people of the 50 states; and,

It’s time:  Governor Malloy call the Connecticut General Assembly into Special ‘One-Day’ Session to pass legislation suspending all State Government Gas Taxes placed on the people purchasing gasoline at the pump; and,

It’s time:  All the people save money at the gas pump including --- those who commute to jobs -- those who drive to job interviews -- those in business with vehicles on the road -- those in business who could add new jobs --- and those struggling to purchase food for their family. The immediate suspension of all gas taxes will help all the people.

It’s time:  Put the People First

Suspend Gas Taxes Now

NAUGATUCK, CONN – September 12: Wayne Winsley, committed to effectively represent all the people of Connecticut’s 3rd U.S. Congressional District and to restore the Public Trust, today released the following statement:
“Whether a person has a full-time job that they must commute to; or, a person is out of work but actively seeking a job; or, commuting to a part-time job; or, commuting to school; or, going to the grocery store to purchase food for their family – we need gasoline in the tank.  That’s the reality.

Here’s another part of our reality: Putting gas in the tank costs money’.  In Connecticut, gasoline costs are way too high.
Why is every one of us paying excessively high ‘Gas Prices at the Pump here in Connecticut?  Here are some facts:

o    The fact is every gallon of gas costs much more today than it did when President Obama took office.
o    The fact that Mr. Obama blocks expanded drilling is another.
o    The dollar’s devaluation internationally is another.
o    The dollar’s decreasing purchasing power domestically is yet another.

Each of these facts-among others-are part of the ‘per gallon cost’ problem each of us faces every time ‘at the pump’.

“But, an overriding factor is the ineffective representation by incumbents among the CT Delegation to Washington  - as well as State Legislative majority in Hartford, who persistently have put their own ‘tax collecting interests’ and ongoing ‘politics-as-usual’ ahead of all of the people’s interests.  Such practices cannot be permitted to continue.”

“It’s Time to Change.  It’s Time to Lead.  It’s Time to Act.  It’s Time to Suspend Gas Taxes!”
Today, I call on every incumbent/challenger for the US Congress to join me in Suspending the Federal Gas Tax.

I am calling for a full suspension of the $18.4 cents per gallon Federal Gas Tax effective October 1, 2012.

We do not need to wait for January.  In fact, we must not wait. We must take action now ‘for the people’.
Further, in the spirit of Restoring America’s Promise, I cordially invite every current Federal Incumbent/Challenger to join me; and, I am extending my hand to each current CT Federal Incumbent (Blumenthal, Lieberman, Courtney, DeLauro, Himes, Larson and Murphy) as well as each CT Federal Challenger (Decker, Estey, Formica, McMahon, Obsitnick, Rorabach, among others).

In addition, I call on every incumbent/challenger for the State Legislature to join me in Suspending the CT State Gas Tax. I am calling for a full suspension of the $48.6 cents per gallon CT State Gas Tax effective October 1, 2012.
We do not need to wait for the next scheduled session. Again, we must take action now ‘to do the people’s work’.
With all respect to, and expectation of, our Governor, a prompt call of the CT General Assembly into special session this month is both warranted and needed.

Further, in the spirit of Restoring America’s Promise in Connecticut, I urge all Incumbent leaders of both the majority and minority parties in the CT General Assembly to include each of their respective Challengers in any and all pre-special session General Assembly discussions.  Of course, all such formal and informal gatherings as well as the Special Session should be televised live on CTN.

SEPTEMBER 11th

“Today, we mark the 11th memorial observing America’s “Second Day of Infamy”: September 11, 2001. The ruthless terror attacks launched upon our country on that day remain etched forever in our memory.

All those among us who lost family that day - and during the necessary conflicts that followed - still grieve the deep personal loss.  Our hearts and our condolences are extended to every member of every family.

To those men and women who so courageously responded as events unfolded on that horrific day; and, to all of the men and women in uniform who have so honorably served our country as well as those in uniform who continue to serve our nation, please accept our sincere thanks and heartfelt appreciation for all you do to protect and defend us.

To my fellow citizens – I urge each of us to apply a ‘special set of 3R’s’.  Let us all: Remember… all those who courageously gave their lives that fateful day 11 years ago today; and, Reflect… on what we had to do beginning 9/12/01 because of what we failed to do prior to 9/10/01; and, Recommit… to what we must do, together, to strengthen our national will.
May God bless all Americans and may God bless the United States of America.”

“Facts Are Stubborn Things”

“Here are startling facts that will both shock and surprise many of our fellow citizens. Thanks to a UCONN economic study, all the people of Connecticut now will know the truth:

o “Connecticut has fewer jobs now than in 1988.”

That means we in Connecticut have lived "a generation without job creation". That’s bad truth for all incumbents? It means the citizens of Connecticut now know that this is the result of ineffective representation by incumbents among the CT Delegation to Washington - as well as State Legislative majority in Hartford, who persistently have put their own interests and politics-as-usual ahead of the people’s interests.

Obviously, my opponent, Incumbent DeLauro has failed the citizens of the 3rd Congressional District. Equally obvious - given her seniority among the CT Delegation to the US House - she has also let down all the people of Connecticut outside the 3rd District.

After all, thoughtful citizens can only conclude that Incumbent DeLauro, as Deaconess of the CT Delegation to US House, was either a very poor role-model; or, conveyed to them a perverse politics-first attitude that dominated her thinking and private guidance to delegation disciples Courtney, Himes, Larson, and Murphy.

I look forward to hearing Incumbent DeLauro responses to questions from the people she has so notoriously let-down over the years. And, I cordially invite each of the other members of the current US House delegation to join Incumbent DeLauro and me in public forum so each Incumbent will have the opportunity to assist fellow Incumbent DeLauro in responding to questions from the people of Connecticut whose interests they have so poorly served. Of course,

I would be remiss to not remind all of the current Incumbents: DeLauro, Larson, Courtney, Himes and Murphy of the wisdom of Founder John Adams that “Facts are stubborn things… they cannot alter the state of facts and evidence” disclosed in the economics study.
